东阳竹编“望月楼”参照故宫角楼形制而制作。按照原状四面凸字形平面组合的多角建筑，共有3层屋檐，24柱28个翼角72脊。上层是纵横搭交的欧山顶，由4柱支撑两坡流水的悬山顶与四面坡的庞殿组合而成的九脊殿。中层采用“勾连搭”的做法，用四面抱厦的歇山顶环拱中心的屋顶，犹如众星拱月。一层20个柱子支撑屋檐为一环半坡顶的腰檐，使上两层的5个屋顶形成一个复合式的整体。整座角楼有竹雕狮形牛腿、如意、螭吻90个，脊兽(包括骑兽小仙人)144个。角楼整体采用了粗细自由编、青白草体编、挑一压一瓦片花、挑二压二人字花、薄片雕贴法、六丝无洞法、二柱竹节一片花、细丝柱头一字花等37种技法:作为故宫最高层次的建筑，有许多装饰考究的梁架结构，何福礼就用竹雕的形式来处理，就竹雕技法而言，整个角楼包含了立体雕、镂空雕、留青雕、翻簧雕刻、及贴片雕等五种;作品设计严谨，整体比例和谐协调，梁架结构雕刻精细，编织技法全面精湛。
